The following events are provided by SWE:

  •  TOC – Initiated in 1980 at Carnegie Mellon, the Technical Opportunities Conference, which takes place each year in September,  is attended by major national companies who come to Carnegie Mellon to recruit our engineering and computer science students for full-time and summer jobs.

  • National Engineering Week – A week of fun socials and community outreach used to draw attention to the many positive aspects of engineering in Carnegie Mellon.

  •  High School Workshops – High schools within a 60 mile radius are invited to Carnegie Mellon to experience “hands-on” laboratory projects to define the engineering majors – and why girls should consider engineering as a profession.

  • SWE Winter Ball – A formal dinner-dance which takes place in February.  Open to the campus community this event, now in its 18th year, is held in the Oakland area with approximately 100 to 150 couples attending. Click here to see this years photos.

  • SWE National Convention - in the fall of the year.  Eight girls are elected to attend the convention, all expenses paid by the SWE Chapter.

  • Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Each year arrangements are made for the girls to attend a Pirate Game.

  • Color Me Mine – want to create a ceramic masterpiece?? The girls go to a local art shop and design a piece of ceramic ware – lots of fun.

  • CMU Spring Carnival – the SWE ladies design their own booth and theme during spring carnival.  An award for creativity was awarded in 2006 for the “Chairman's Choice Award for Best Blitz Booth.”

The Society continues to be a shining star to the women in engineering at Carnegie Mellon.  Come join us.
